Annual Brocante at Durtal

A chilly start to the day with mist rising from the river

View of the chateau in Durtal

Delicious looking breads for sale

It was clearly going to be a long day!

The sun rises leaving a cold but sunny autumn day - perfect for pottering.

  1. Lovely photos. The blue high chair is like one we saw in Noyant. The 'sales' demonstration by the brocanteur was the funniest thing ever, as the chair converts into a table and chair and then has wheels on to push it around. Really, quite an ingenious invention. It does not sound so funny typing it now, but in the middle of Noyant it drew a crowd and some laughs.

  2. Love the photo of the mist rising from the Loire. I am fortunate to live within minutes of The Charente river which King François I called the loveliest river in his kingdom ! ! ( although The Loire is pretty good too !)

  3. Thank Jean and John. I think the people watching at brocantes is nearly as interesting as what's on sale although we always come away with something from this one.
There's something very magical about France's rivers early morning - the way the mist hovers over them like a blanket and then disappears as the sun rises.
